If you saw my Instagram post from a few days ago, you know that I finally took the plunge and purchased some of the Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Lip Creme Lipsticks. After hearing so many good things about these, I was really curious to try them! They have an amazing colour range and are extremely affordable.
Review Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Lip Creme Lipsticks
The lipsticks come in a square standard sized bottle similar in size to the Kylie Cosmetics or the Colourpop Cosmetics liquid lipsticks. The lipstick itself has a gold cap with the gold logo on the bottle. It comes with a flexible applicator that has curves on either side. This applicator is nice for applying the product to the centre of the lips but I found it difficult to perfect the lip line, so I would suggest using a lip liner, or maybe a brush to create a perfect edge.
These lipsticks are sold on the Milani Cosmetics website for $8.99USD. I purchased mine from Discount Beauty for $19.95 AUD as the Milani Cosmetics Australia website did not have the shades I wanted in stock. The lipsticks are very reasonable in terms of price point when compared to other liquid lipsticks that are of the same volume such as the Colourpop Ultra Metallics which are $6 USD.
The lipsticks have a fairly strong vanilla type scent, that you may either love or hate. I do not mind the scent at all and I do find that after the lipstick dries down, it becomes relatively unnoticeable.
These lipsticks are extremely pigmented and the formula is very creamy/mousse-like in consistency. They apply very nicely with the applicator. Only one swipe is needed achieve complete opacity. They take a little bit longer to dry down but once they do, they dry down to a complete powder finish.
These are really comfortable to wear and are not overly drying in comparison to the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lipsticks. They take a little longer to dry down to a powder finish, 5 – 10 minutes, but once they do, they are transfer proof. Throughout the day I found them to fade, especially with food and drink, in the centre of the lips. This is not usually noticeable if you a wearing a nude colour, however, with any of the darker shades, you will need to reapply. With the darker shades, I found that after eating it started to crumble and basically looked awful on me, so I wouldn’t count on these for a special event.
I like how these lipsticks look on the lips when you first apply them and they are comfortable to wear also. They are an extremely affordable liquid lipstick, however for me, I would much rather spend a little bit more on a lipstick that would be more long lasting. I would also rather spend a little extra on a lipstick that I know I can count on throughout the day. It is a good formula, in terms of feel, but it isn’t my favourite! If you are someone who likes a comfortable matte lipstick and isn’t too concerned about the need to reapply, these are a really affordable option!
Swatches of the Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Lip Creme Lipsticks
I purchased four shades and swatched them on my lips. Please keep in mind that the appearance of these shades may vary with skin tones.
This is a gorgeous brown shade. It is actually a really similar dupe for Kylie Cosmetics True Brown K
This is a gorgeous peachy nude shade. I found this one to be the most drying out of all four shades.
This is a really pretty pink shade.
In the tube this shade looks like a really pretty bright pink. However, on my lips it seemed more red.
