I have been lusting over the Ofra Cosmetics On the Glow highlighter palette for such a long time now but it is either sold out or the AUD exchange rate is awful! I was so excited when I saw the Ofra x NikkieTutorials Collection as it was a perfect opportunity to try out Ofra’s highlighters as well as their liquid lipstick formula! This collaboration was initially limited edition, but will now be released again as singles. I think we have come to expect this from companies, where limited edition items are restocked a number of times. I wanted to get this review up for you because had there been singles at the initial launch, I may have purchased a little differently. If you want to know which products in this collection I would recommend purchasing, keep reading below!
Ofra x NikkieTutorials Collection Review
A lot of effort and attention to detail has gone into the packaging of this collaboration. The packaging of the collection highlights the products perfectly, with the items standing up. There is a lift up outer casing that features the logo in gold metallic font and textured gold glitter. The outer packaging is sealed with rose gold stickers with the same logo. The back of this has information about the collaboration and ingredients, as well as a stunning photo of NikkieTutorials!
The highlighter, which features three shades, comes in a relatively sturdy plastic packaging with clear plastic lid. It is nice and lightweight but does not feel as luxurious as a MAC compact or an Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator compact.
The lipsticks come in a standard clear round tube that depicts the shade within. It has a slanted doe-foot applicator that is very easy to use and create a defined lip line with.
This collaboration was sold on the Ofra Cosmetics website for $79USD, however, you could use Nikkie’s or any other influencers discount code for 30% off, bringing the total down to $55.30USD. Shipping to Australia cost $15.95USD.
At face value, I think this collection as a bundle is extremely great value, as you are getting a full sized highlighter wheel that retails for $35 and three lipsticks that are usually $19.90 each. If you purchased these items individually, they would cost around $95 all up.
I absolutely love that the Everglow highlighter wheel contains three highlighter shades that are perfect for different skin tones. It contains as frosty white/pearl shade perfect for pale to light skin tones, a champagne shimmer perfect for light to medium skin tones and a stunning coppery bronze shade perfect for medium to deep skin tones. These shades can also be mixed to create custom shades and can be used as eyeshadows.
There are three lipstick shades:
Nude Potion – neutral nude pink shade
Spell – a neon pink coral with pink reflects – in some lights, this looks very neon coral, and in others, it is pinker.
Coven – a metallic brown
Ofra Highlighter Review:
The formula of Ofra’s highlighters exceeded my expectations. They are powder highlighters but are intensely soft and creamy. They are extremely pigmented and very metallic. These highlighters do have glitter/shimmer in them, but it isn’t chunky glitter. When blended out, the glitter particles just catch the light perfectly, and are not over the top. They apply really smoothly and blend like a dream. Depending on how much you use and how your base is, they do not exaggerate any skin texture.
If you are on the fence about this highlighter because not all the shades will suit your skin tone, they double perfectly as eyeshadows! I created a gorgeous coppery bronze eye with the darkest shade and received so many compliments. These highlighters can be used for more than just cheekbone highlight. They can be used as eyeshadows, inner corner of the eye highlight, brow bone highlight, and even over lipsticks to make them metallic.
Ofra Liquid Lipstick Review:
Ofra’s liquid lipsticks are slightly thicker in texture and are very creamy. These lipsticks do dry down, but not to a powder finish. They are not completely transfer-proof, however, they are incredibly hydrating and comfortable to wear. These are reasonably long lasting, but will fade with eating and drinking and may need a touch-up.
In terms of pigmentation, Nude Potion and Coven were incredibly pigmented in one swipe. I was pleasantly surprised at the pigmentation of Coven, as usually metallics are streaky, but, this shade is honestly perfect! I found that the shade Spell needed a little more TLC as it was a little patchy and streaky. It needed one more coat for pigmentation. With this shade, however, I would not apply more than 2 coats, as I found the formula to become tacky and not nice to wear at all.
The highlighters are so pigmented and you can easily blend them out or build them up depending on your preference.
If you are wanting a more subtle look, you can definitely use a fan brush like the Sigma F42 Fan Brush. I found this to diffuse the product and blend it nicely.
My personal favourite highlighter brush is the F03 High Cheekbone Highlighter Brush. It is great for applying and blending highlight. It also lets you pick up more product than a fan brush. I feel like I have more control with this sort of brush.
Would I purchase this collection again?
Overall, I am happy with the quality, formula and overall design of this collection. I would purchase from this collection again, however, I would not purchase the entire collection as a bundle. Everglow and the lipstick shade Coven would definitely be on my list. I found that Nude Potion did not suit my skin tone, but would look gorgeous on pale to light skin tones. As nice and bright the shade Spell is, I found that it needed more work in the application and isn’t a shade I would honestly ever wear.
Some may say that the bundle is better value, but for me had they sold singles originally, I would have much preferred to spend a little extra and purchase Everglow and Coven, as well as two others shades from Ofra’s lipstick collection that may be more appropriate for my skin tone and more wearable.
